My son had spoted this garage at easter while spending his easter money, and begged me for it. As we had already bought him his easter gift we thought we would get it for Christmas for him. But all my little one would ask for was the garage for his Birthday. After reading the reviews on Amazon I was really worried about spending so much money on a toy that could fall apart after minutes of play.
But as my son had set his heart on it I ordered it. When it arrives I was impresed by the quality the trim around the top of the garage is now rubber, and fitted well to the wood. Not the plastic one that did come on the garage. And the handle for the lift is solid wood, not plastic like before.
I think that Le Toy Van have listened to customers and have made improvements to the range. However my son's Grandparents bought him the Airport and sadly the quality is very poor. And has requred alot of mending, I think the airport must have been an older model as it was bought from a shop.
I would advise buying a bottle of wood glue if you are buying any toy from the Le Toy Van range. However my son loves his garage and airport and any hassel we have had fixing the airport, is far outweighed by my son's enjoyment of the toy.
It is refreshing in this day and age to have toy's like this which stretch childrens imagination.

So disappointing....Review date: 2010-07-13 Rating: 2 out of 10This is not a toy for a child it is a toy to look good in a picture perfect boys room. My just turned 3 year old little boy received this at Christmas when he was still 2 and he has barely played with it. Given how little it has been used I can't believe how wrecked it is and it will be going to the local dump this week. Within days the rubber trims around each floor had come off, they are only stapled on so just minor scuffing pulls them off. The walls and arches to the front are attached with very flimsy small wooden dowls so again just a little over reaching by my son has snapped them. Finally my son stood on it to look out of window and the whole thing collapsed, the MDF floors have literally split in half. Whilst I appreciate that it was not made for standing on I doubt any child would resist doing so on at least the odd occasion and I expect a toy to stand up to this. My child is a very slight and light and this toy probably wouldnt have lasted more than a couple of weeks had he been heavier and had he actually played with it! A big plastic number from ELC next time for us.
Don't buy it!Beautiful to look at, good fun, useless for small children!Review date: 2010-01-11 Rating: 6 out of 10Well the only real joy I've found from this toy was my children's initial couple of days playing with it. My children are 1 and 2 years old, a girl and a boy, and as soon as they saw this garage and the little wooden cars they were entranced. However, within a week of having the garage they had managed to snap one of the wooden arches off of it, and I have just discovered they have snapped another little wooden piece off today.
It really is a shame that I can't rate this product more highly than I have. It is a thing of beauty and my kids love playing with it. However, I have a feeling it won't be too much longer til the thing is completely destroyed. The screws and things that hold it together are too flimsy, and the paint chips easily. It took me a good 3 hours to set this thing up as well. I really wish I had waited 2 or 3 years before buying my children something so nice. I should have bought them a plastic one and then I would not have been so bothered when it broke!
Not recommended for small children, but would be perfect for 4 years and up :)Fun but not durableReview date: 2010-01-07 Rating: 6 out of 10I bought this garage for my three year old as I wanted something that looked more robust than most of the plastic offerings available. It is a beautiful looking garage, looking like a sturdy wooden garage toy from the 1960s but unfortunately I hadn't realised it is made from MDF. It took about 45 minutes to build, it would have been shorter but some of the holes weren't pre-drilled. My son loved it but within an hour of playing with it one of the MDF walls had broken, within a couple of hours the surrounding barrier had come off.
He still plays with it a lot but it isn't as robust as could be hence the three stars.Trade discription act beware. This is made of toxic MDF!!!Review date: 2010-01-02 Rating: 2 out of 10This is the second review i have written for this garage as my first one has never been published!! This was the second 'real wood' garage that turned out to be mdf i have ordered. Naturally it went straight back as mdf is particularly bad for young children. The stench as yuo open the box is amazing. Judging by the reviews the quality is poor too so a lucky escape. Beware of toys advertised as wood as many are made of mdf!!!
